The “Canton Trophy” was played for on Thursday 25th May. This is a 14 point Association handicap game , (ie one circuit of the hoops and peg).
The Canton Trophy is a rather handsome trophy but, is best looked through dark glasses. It requires copious amounts of silver polish and dextrous hands.
Eight players entered, whose handicaps ranged from 1 to 22 so the event incorporated both good players with those of lesser experience.
The quality of the play vastly outdid the radiance of the sun which shone all day. The word on the street is that no-one was disappointed with their own play, but somebody had to win and we are pleased to announce that KELVIN DENT was the winner, beating Ed Dolphin 9-6 in the final.
